Bare Minimum skin care, minimalism, a topic we’ve yet to touch on. How much do you actually need to do to keep your skin healthy? We’ve previously posted about Simplifying your beauty regime.
What do we mean by Bare Minimum?
The absolute essentials you need to keep your skin healthy. The bare minimum. A no fuss solution, how can this be achieved?
We’ve decided on the three most critical steps to ensure you have a fantastic complexion, without making too much compromise. After all, there are some steps which can’t be neglected (e.g. SPF) but the list has been condensed as much as possible.
1. Cleanse. This is a bit of a no-brainer, no matter your skin type cleansing is essential to wash away any oils and dirt which can cause clogged pores and break-outs. We recommend using a gentle cleanser for sensitive/dry skin. We aren’t including toning as a step, if you feel your skin still isn’t clean after using a cleanser, perhaps be more thorough or invest in another product.
2. Exfoliate. We recommend a maximum of 2-3 times a week using a physical exfoliant. These are typically harsher than chemical exfoliants, but it’s up to you to decide which works better. Some chemical exfoliants may mitigate the need for a scrub, others may not. Either way, one or the other should be fine, for some a scrub does the job, others not so much. Adapt this to your skin type.
3. Moisturise (With SPF). Combining two steps here, most are used to moisturising and then applying SPF. We find this to be too much product and can cause clogged pores or make your appearance seem greasy. Using an all-in-one moisturiser & SPF is definitely the better option. It’ll reduce the time you take to apply the products, and reduce the amount of products you need to buy. Simplified.
These three steps are essential to promote skin regeneration, as well as keeping your skin clean and hydrated. This bare minimum, minimalist routine will take no time at all, and you’ll have more time to focus on other things, especially if you lead a busy life. (Mums, this one’s for you).
