Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream; a fantastic light weight formulation for all skin types. It’s Kiehl’s #1 reviewed facial cream, but does it live up to the hype?
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream claims to:

• Balances hydration levels with 2.3X more moisture.
• Absorbs into skin easily with an ultra-lightweight texture
• Tested in everyday and extreme environments
• Formulated with Glacial Glycoprotein, derived from sea glaciers, and olive-derived Squalane
• For all skin types, including sensitive skin
No doubt it’s everything you could ask from a moisturiser, but does it actually work?
Who is it for?
Anyone and everyone really, this moisturiser is suitable for all skin types, and works especially effectively for those with dry skin. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream is also non-comedogenic meaning it won’t block your pores and so is also ideal for those with acne-prone or oilier skin types.
Another excellent property of this cream is that it offers hydration all year round, especially during the winter months where your skin is likely to be drier due to the cold weather. It has also been proven to “re-balance hydration and fight against moisture loss in artificial humidities and extreme conditions” as follows:
• Extreme Cold: -4°C + Wind Chill (6km/h)
• Room Temperature: 21°C + Balanced Relative Humidity (45%)
• Artificial Central Heating/ Air Conditioning: 22°C + Low Relative Humidity (20%)
• Extreme Dry Heat: 37.7°C + Low Relative Humidity (20%)
Directions For Use
As this is a moisturising cream, it should be used towards the end of your skin care regime. That is, after cleansing and using any serums, but before applying SPF. Kiehl’s also do an Ultra Facial Cream SPF 30 with UVA and UVB sun protection for those looking to combine the moisturising and sunscreen step.
I’ve personally used this cream for over a year now, and so have reviewed it on a day/month/year basis.
It’s a very light facial cream which sinks right into the skin. I have combination skin, oily around the T-Zone but dry around the cheeks. This cream provides moisture to the dry areas but without clogging my pores in the oilier areas.
I love to have a moisturiser I can just slap on without having to think much about it, and I’m starting to think this is the one. At no point have I had to worry about dry skin in the past four weeks.
The problem I’ve had in the past is that certain moisturisers don’t work well with certain serums I use, but this one I’ve applied after most serums and had no adverse reactions.
A year of using this product and it’s safe to say there’s no turning back. It’s excellent in the winter months where it fights against moisture loss, and feels light and airy in the summer months even with higher temperature and humidity.
My skin feels soft and smooth, and using this Ultra Facial Cream with serums including Niacinamide have balanced the sebum production on my face. It’s no longer as oily or dry as it was before.
It does everything a moisturiser should do. While it’s a little on the pricier side, it’s definitely my favourite moisturiser and I will continue to use this for as long as they make it.
