You might have seen the Clean & Clear range on all major retailers’ shelves, most of us have used one or two of their products by now.
In the past I’ve tried the blackhead clearing scrubs, as well as the daily exfoliating scrub both of which have provided good results. The perks of purchasing these products is definitely the price point, most of which are under £5. If it doesn’t end up working you know you’re not too out of pocket.
I find this dual action moisturiser by Johnson & Johnson to be an excellent addition to my minimalist skincare regime. The product claims to moisturise as well as prevent spots and blemishes with a ‘spot fighting ingredient’, or Salicylic Acid as it’s more commonly known.
I usually use a Salicylic Acid serum prior to moisturising as I find it prevents the pores from getting clogged and reduces shine throughout the day. However, using this clean & clear moisturiser has eliminated that step for me. Immediately after cleansing my face I apply this moisturiser and that’s it, I’m ready to start my day. Can’t get much easier than that, especially if you’re trying to simplify your skincare routine. Over the past few months I’ve had fewer breakouts, and my skin looks and feels smoother in general.
One thing though, as it contains a BHA it can cause problems for those with dry skin. I recommend trying it on a small patch on your face, as it can cause dryness and irritation. Although if it is your first time using a BHA product this is pretty common; it can take a while for your skin to adjust.
BHA’s also increase sensitivity to the sun (by up to 50%). You should always apply SPF when using these products, and keep sun exposure to a minimum.
